Aggressively sexual and emotionally withdrawn Erica (Amanda Fuller) lives rent-free in the local co-op and spends her nights cruising the bars and beds of Austin seeking cheap thrills and one night stands.
But Erica finally finds a reason to settle down when she meets the older and mysterious Nate (Noah Taylor). Despite his quiet air of danger and "honorable discharge" from Iraq, Nate's the only guy who doesn't try sleeping with her at the first opportunity, and the two form a hesitant bond.
But when Erica's past comes back to haunt her, Nate is forced to call upon his military background in order to track down her kidnappers and go down a rocky and violent road to heart-rending oblivion.
IndieWire's Howard Feinstein calls Simon Rumley's latest film a "staggering combo of psychological insight, visceral brutality, and sophisticated shifts in temporal structure.," while Bloody-Disgusting raves "It's a masterful piece of storytelling from a filmmaker on the rise."
